CLASS DESCRIPTIONSBeginners Classes - are aimed at an introductory and entry level to Greek dancing.
Intermediate Classes - (Currently not running) aimed at students who have either carried out the Beginners Classes or are more competent dancers Wedding Dances - (Currently not running) Often members come to our Greek dancing classes to learn specific dances for an upcoming wedding, therefore we have created an intensive class of 4 weeks duration. Held over the Spring period they cover the five most popular and sought after wedding dances. These are the Ballos/Sirtos, Hassapiko, Hassaposerviko (or Sousta), Kalamatianos and the Zembekiko (Vareto). |
We teach a whole variety of dances from all over Greece, Asia minor and Cyprus. For the beginner's class we stick to what we consider to be the more popular dances as well as introducing a few traditional ones that you may not know. Below, is a list of these dances:
Sirtaki, Ballos/Sirtos, Kalamatianos, Hasapiko, Hasaposerviko, Zembekiko, Tsamiko, Zonaradiko, Ikariotiko, Pentozali, Koftos (Cypriot), Tsirighotiko, Tik, Rhoditiko Pidihtos, Siganos Once you have completed the beginners course you may decide to come back for the intermediates class. In this class, as well as covering the same dances as the beginners we introduce you to a much wider variety of traditional dances including, but not limited to: Malevisiotikos, Balaristos. Kotsari, Baidoushka, Dhipat, Syngathistos, Panahoritikos, Cretan sousta, Chaniotikos Syrtos, Kallinitikos, etc |
